Black Canary looked at the team and smiled. “Good. Now let’s just start out. Quinn. You first.” Quinn looked at the team and then back at Black Canary. “I…. I don’t know how to fight.”
“Well you’re in the right place. Here, we’ll teach you how to fight.”
“Okay.” She approached Black Canary.
“First thing you always want to know in combat is your strengths and weaknesses. Use them to your advantage. Also, know your surroundings, it’ll come in handy. Now I’m going to throw a couple of punches, try to block them.”
Black Canary threw a few punches and Quinn blocked them almost effortlessly. She decided to push her and continued coming at her, making it harder. She lunged, leaving herself open on purpose and Quinn retaliated, knocking her back.
Black Canary smiled, “Good, you do know how to fight.”
Black Canary took this chance to attack her again and threw a kick at her, but Quinn ducked and kicked her standing foot on the ground out from under her.
“Oh sorry. I just…” Quinn scooted back and took a deep breath. “I don’t know how i did that.”
“You have been taught to fight already. Your subconscious is taking over for you. Muscle memory if you will. Excellent reflexes.”
Quinn stood up and began to leave the room. “Please excuse me.”
“You’re not getting off that easily,” Black Canary said. “Split off into groups and spare with one another. I don’t care the pairs, just choose.”
Trinity easily got out of the handcuffs and crossed her arms watching them train, ‘I shouldn’t be here..’ she thought.
Kalder took Quinn’s hand. “Hey, you can’t leave training.” Quinn turned to him. “I just need a little…”
Kalder put both hands on her shoulders. “Quinn. If your scared it’s okay.”
She paused. “You think I’m scared?” She knocked his hands off her shoulders and threw her fists into his chest knocking him back.
Black Canary glanced around and saw Trinity sitting in the corner. “Hey, you! Why don’t you come and join us.”
Trinity shook her head, “I’m fine watching thanks.”
“What’s wrong? Scared you’ll lose?” Robin smirked.
Trinity glared and stood, “You’re gonna regret challenging me.”
“I’m not scared.” Kalder dodged her first punch but he missed her back hand and her kick.
Trinity watched him, anticipating his move. “Aren’t you going to attack?”
“Ladies first,” he smiled.
Trinity lunged towards him and they began in hand to hand combat. They seemed evenly matched.
Kalder caught her hands and turned her around and held her there. “Calm down.”
Robin feinted left and swung his foot around to knock her off her feet, but she jumped up and kicked him in the face, knocking him back. He recovered by doing a back handspring and ran towards her. They threw punches left and right, almost as if they were dancing.
“Let me go!” She kicked at the hall wall and Kalder lost his balance and fell back onto his back and landed with her on top. She kicked free from his grasp. “Please. I just don’t get it.”
Trinity finally found an openeing and punched him square in the chest, knocking the wind out of him. She then turned and kicked him, causing him to fly backwards onto the mat. “That, was for earlier.” She took a breath to regain her calm. She turned to Black Canary, “Good enough?”
“Not bad at all. Especially for just having been injured.”
They stopped and turned their attention to Quinn and Kalder.
Kalder got to his feet and held his hand out to Quinn. “Ready?”
She took his hand and stood. “Yeah.”
Quinn struggle with herself and felt the other’s eyes on her.
Trinity decided to help her out. “Why don’t you spare with me now. The rest of you go back to your training geez.” She walked over to Quinn and pulled her to a side of the room.
“What?”
“What’s wrong?” Trinity crossed her arms.
“I don’t know. Knowing how to fight and not remembering it makes me… angry.
“I can understand that. Let me give you a tip. You’re trying to resist remembering. When you’re fighting, instead of letting muscle memory take over, control it and remember how to fight.”
“it’s not that easy.”
Trinity smiled, “It never is. But don’t knock it til you try it. C’mon, practice with me. We’ll take it slowly, one step at a time.” She readied herself into a fighting stance.
Quinn took a stance and threw a punch knowing she was gonna dodge it.
Trinity side stepped and threw a punch back.
Quinn caught her fist and spun around threw her elbow into Trinity’s gut
Trinity latched onto her arm and stopped, “Stop. What did you learn?”
Quinn then felt a sharp pain in her head. ‘~what did you learn, if you disobey me you.` Suddenly a burst of energy emerged from her body and threw Trinity back from her.
Trinity flew into a wall and slid to the floor. She clutched her injured arm, “Ouch..” she sighed.
`~She can’t control it~ Get her into the pod!~` Quinn began to stumble and ran toward down the hall to get away from everyone. When she came into the bay halls and found the ship there she realized she had taken a wrong turn and another energy blast shot out from her body. “Ah! I’ve got to control it.” She ran and jumped into and another energy blast shot out. She landed in the water and felt the
cool water envelpe her and she could feel herself calm down.
Trinity and the others followed after her and Kalder jumped in after Quinn to help her. “You alright?” Robin asked Trinity. Trinity let go of her arm and smiled, “Yeah, I’m fine.”
Quinn felt Kalder’s arms around her and lift her to the surface. “Are you trying to kill yourself?”
“No. I just… Just put me back in the pod. I can’t do this. I can’t handle the combat and I can’t handle the power. I’m useless.”
“Don’t say that. You will learn. It will just take some time.” He helped her back onto the platform.
“I’ll probably hurt or worse kill someone in the process!”
Green Lantern walked over to her, “We won’t let that happen. We are here to help you.”
